I'm getting my groove on to make 10 postcards!
This is my inspiration - blue, green, white and purple fabric. |
I love watching watercolours move and bleed as they dry... Isn't this pretty? |
Even though I used watercolour paper, the cards still curled up when I applied the paint to them. |
I've decided to make 12 cards so that I can send the two extras to some special international friends :) |
How's your process going?? Post links to your postcards in the comments section so that we can all see!
I have more than the "standard" 10 too. I recently learned that if you wet both sides of the water color paper with your brush and water, and then let it sit for 10 or 15 min. Lastly dab the wet paper with a paper towel. It curls a lot less. Paint it while the paper is still damp. Also when you wet it don't soak it.
ReplyDeleteI was taught to spray the table with water and then watercolor the other side. Prevents curling.
ReplyDeleteMy 10 cards are almost done! Each one is totally different. I used this opportunity to try different techniques. I love them all!

QUESTION: Since this is my first postcard swap...what do we put on the address side? Thanks!

I have the fronts of my cards done; I just have to attach the address side. I haven't blogged about them yet, but I will soon...I like how they turned out. I'm looking forward to the swap!
ReplyDeleteBlogged a few sneak peak photos of my cards - http://carlenetaylorsimmons.blogspot.com/2012/01/post-card-swap.html
ReplyDeleteIf I drew a picture in pen, then coloured it with watercolour, does that count as mixed media? Not a problem if it doesn't, I'm just wondering.
ReplyDeleteYes I think so: paint + ink = two different types. I would say that is great! :)
ReplyDeleteMake sure you send me your mailing address before the end of the day today if you wish to particpate in the swap :)
Cheers!
Shannon
Mailing my 10 cards right now!! I have enjoyed this swap and looking forward to receiving my 10.
ReplyDeleteI just mailed my cards, and wanted to tell you how delighted I am with "Learn", the card I received from you. The texture of the circles is mesmerizing. Thanks so much. I don't have a blog or I'd be happy to share my cards.
