My Shelving Unit - In the Works...

Remember this Duracell display box?

Here it is with a coat of primer...

And here it is today!

Looking good, right??

I'm not sure that I like the brown ink spatters under the tissue paper. I'm secretly hoping that they will disappear as the tissue paper dries and becomes more opaque.

A close-up of an edge/corner. I did a paint/ink wash over the edges to make them stand out...

And here are my accomplices: light blue tissue paper, Adirondack Spray Ink in Espresso, dollar store white glue, dollar store acrylic paint.
It's really gaining shape and definitely taking on a personality of its own.

I think that it will be used for displaying a collection of little toys that I have...

Revisiting My Mandala

On WIWO Wednesday this week I showed you a mandala that I've been working on in my mini journal.

I got a lot of feedback from you Lovelies about whether or not to outline each section in black. Some of you were on the fence just like I was, and most of you said to give it a try.

I did it! And I'm REALLY happy with the result.

What do you think?

I think it's much crisper now, and I'm a lot happier with it. Thanks so much for your suggestions!

WIWO Wednesday (on Thursday) - preparing my cards for the postcard swap

Have you registered for the International Mixed Media Postcard Swap yet? So far there are 6 countries participating. Is your country represented? Send me an email to enquire!

Here is a sneak peek of some experimenting that I'm doing in preparation for my cards. By using watercolor paints, black pen and my sewing machine, I'm pushing the term mixed media over the edge!
